Come and discover nature and wildlife for free on the site of the former Montréal Blue Bonnets racetrack!
The Société environnementale de Côte-des-Neiges (SOCENV), in partnership with the Multicaf cafeteria, Éco-pivot and the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, invites you to take part in a citizen bioblitz on the site of the former Montréal Blue Bonnets racetrack.
The activity will take place on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 between 7am and 10pm. Bring a flashlight for the night time activity!
It’s possible we may have to cancel in case of poor weather, please watch the Facebook event or this page.
It’s a great opportunity to visit this mysterious and little-known 43-hectare site in the heart of Montréal, which is becoming wild again and teeming with life and activity, to make observations and take part in a first biodiversity inventory along with a number of specialists and researchers.
To access the site, it’s about a 10-minute walk from Namur metro station on the orange line, the entrance is on rue Clanranald near Jean-Talon Ouest (see this map).
We recommend that you dress appropriately for the weather conditions (hat, long clothes, good walking shoes) and bring a water bottle and lunch.
This will be a zero-waste, eco-friendly event.
To take part, you can also download and install the iNaturalist application on your phone (recommended!).
