***CANCELLED*** Bioblitz at the Blue Bonnets racetrack site!

June 17 @ 07:00 22:00

June 17 @ 07:00 22:00

Unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating and the forecast is not favorable so the event is cancelled. The birds and insects won’t be there because of the rain. We will propose a later date during the summer.

The Société environnementale de Côte-des-Neiges (SOCENV), in partnership with the Multicaf cafeteria, Éco-pivot and the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, invites you to take part in a citizen bioblitz on the site of the former Montréal Blue Bonnets racetrack.

The activity will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023 between 7am and 10pm. Bring a flashlight for the night time activity!

It’s a great opportunity to visit this mysterious and little-known 43-hectare site in the heart of Montréal, which is becoming wild again and teeming with life and activity, to make observations and take part in a first biodiversity inventory along with a number of specialists and researchers.

To access the site, it’s about a 10-minute walk from Namur metro station on the orange line, the entrance is on rue Clanranald near Jean-Talon Ouest (see this map).

We recommend that you dress appropriately for the weather conditions (hat, long clothes, good walking shoes) and bring a water bottle and lunch.

This will be a zero-waste, eco-friendly event.

To take part, you can also download and install the iNaturalist application on your phone (here’s the project on the iNaturalist website).

The event will take place rain or shine!
