Community Composting

Community Composting Sites

Since 2006, SOCENV has worked with the borough of Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce to run a network of community composting sites. This project offers to citizens who live in multi-unit residential buildings without access to a backyard, an opportunity to get involved in reducing the amount of garbage they generate by composting in a collective facility.

To subscribe to one of our community composters, call or visit SOCENV and receive all the information necessary to get started. We encourage all participants to share in the proper maintenance of each composter. The final compost output is provided free of charge for use by all participants.

Currently active sites managed by SOCENV:

  • Dupuis (next to Simonne-Monet primary school, at the corner of Dupuis and Légaré)
  • Jean-Brillant (in Jean-Brillant park, near Swail road)
  • Mahatma-Gandhi (in Mahatma-Gandhi Park, at the corner of Hudson and Van Horne)
  • Mackenzie-King (in Mackenzie-King Park, at the corner of Côte-Ste-Catherine and Beaucourt)
